We've been doing a lot of talking about Vitamin D and how to strengthen your bones through Vitamin D and calcium in certain recipes. But did you know that you also get Vitamin D from the sun?
You may be able to get all of your Vitamin D from the sun alone, but it all depends on where you live, what time of year it is, and what time of day you are able to get outside.
If you live close to the equator you get more Vitamin D from the sun. If you are in the Northern Hemisphere, and not getting additional Vitamin D, you are more likely to get insufficient Vitamin D.
If you want to get Vitamin D from the sun, try to get outside from 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. when the sun is the strongest. If it is winter, you will need to be outside for a longer period of time.
